This landscape that we see here could be the result of many hypothetical theories. One, that this alternate reality is basically the depiction of a dream that one can have during the state of sleep, two, that this world actually may exist in another reality be it another galaxy, another solar system or indeed, another dimension. The painting is actually called \u2018Future of the Paciderms\u2019. The reason for this is that it shows us where evolution could go in millions of years or however far away the far-flung future is. It also touches on the idea of where nature itself could go if we as humans continue to mess around with nature. Paciderms are a type of animal that is usually large in size and has very thick rough skin like an elephant or rhinoceros. Life accelerated much more quickly on this world so that life developed faster here. Animal evolution to me is very interesting because when you look at the period of the dinosaurs, all the predators were much bigger than they are today and as time has passed, they have become smaller. It seems now that most animals that are large on today\u2019s earth are quite harmless. This new world in which I have created here which is really only a snippet off, features animals that are very large and also carnivorous. The main large creature is a disastrous combination of land and air; meaning it is a mismatch of fox and peacock, This is in fact a slight homage to the artist, Thomas Grunfeld who worked with animal misfits, which he himself created. The theme here is based on a song called \u2018Supernature\u2019 by Marc Cerrone of 1977 where the song tells a tale about how humans have messed with mother nature to create terrible creatures of the dark. The song was a pop song about the human race causing damage to mother nature and how animals and mother nature itself getting their revenge back on the humans. What was interesting about the record vinyl label that was designed in those days was the fact that one half of the label was orange and the other was turquoise. Most \u2018Atlantic Records\u2019 labels were orange and the other half, green. These combinations of colours, orange and turquoise had a profound effect on me and was very unique compered to the rest of the records designs. We can probably be thankful that horses themselves are not carnivores but if they were, we would be very sorry indeed. Such as it is with our friendship and loving bond between us and these beautiful animals, that if we violated that bond, there would be serious and devastating consequences. The human covering their eyes in this work clearly shows that they are either trying to hide something from the imposing yet rather beautiful animal and also at the same time holding their head in utter shame as to what they have done. In a way, there is more awareness that the human may have created the larger creature or at least others like it which is why they are looking guilty and feel bad about the idea of messing with nature and tampering with mother nature for their own benefit. The element of redemption is the way that the larger animal is looking like they are trying to communicate with the human rather than attacking them. Whereas in this piece, I am also taking the concept further and introducing the idea of not only consequence but also what can happen when genetic tampering ends up evolving naturally. It is a symbol or metaphor represented here by the scientist changing from bird to human or indeed, human to bird. In a way, if genetically modified hybrid animals were left to live by themselves then of course it is reasonable to assume that such creatures would naturally evolve on their own. So in the left panel, I am showing how the two hybrid human figures are trying to overcome the evil human cyborg scientist who represents our own terrible obsession with modern technology. The cloud represents that nature is pointing the finger of blame on the scientists who tampered with mother nature and that the grave on the left represents our limited time on the planet. The hybrid sheep snail lizard creature at the bottom of the composition represents the terrible consequence of what the two scientists on the left and right have done to the poor creature and that they too are about to get their comeuppance. In the middle panel depicts the moonlight, which shows that it is too late for the human race to beg for forgiveness to the animals they tampered with and that the shark\/octopus creature is finally getting its revenge on the scientist by pulling her to her death. The pink echo of sunset colours on the lower left of the sky represents that blood has been spilt in this landscape. \nThe right panel shows the calm after the storm whereby the hybrids are left in peace to fend for themselves after the battle with the humans.
